SCOPEThis section of the Quality Manual details the commitment of AVO NZ to ensure staff are correctly trained in those tasks which they perform, and that training is revalidated where necessary. CONTENTS18.01 Personnel Training 18.01 Personnel TrainingSCOPEThis procedure details the methods used to train and evaluate personnel. 18.01.01Personnel are appointed on the basis of their overall qualifications, knowledge and experience. A copy of their job description is held in the "ISO Staff File" held by the General Manager. 18.01.02The General Manager assigns appropriate Trainers on the basis of their seniority, experience and qualification. 18.01.03Training consists of the trainee working alongside the Trainer, initially in watching, then performing the various steps that make up all or part of an operation. 18.01.04Training is complete when the Trainer is satisfied with the knowledge and skill of the trainee with regard to the official procedure in terms of accuracy and speed. This satisfaction will also involve the trainee being confident that they can work on their own. 18.01.05Reassessment of the trainee, where necessary, is at the Trainers discretion. Assessments of all staff is performed, at least annually, to review performance and identify individual training needs. Staff Assessments are conducted by either the General Manager or, an appropriate Senior Manager, in consultation with the General Manager. 18.01.06Training Reviews may be performed when major changes to any procedure have been made. Training Reviews are conducted by either the General Manager or an appropriate Senior Manager in consultation with the General Manager. 18.01.07Staff may attend training courses, held by independent bodies, according to the scope of their employment. 18.01.08Any training given, to either new or incumbent staff, is recorded on each individual's Staff Training Record. 18.02 In-house Use of External Training OrganisationsSCOPEThis procedure details the use of External Training Organisations for In-House Training of Personnel. 18.02.01In circumstances where external organizations are used to provide training, the training programme will be reviewed by the General Manager of AVO NZ, or a member of staff nominated by him, for its suitability. 18.02.02A record of approved training organizations, together with the scope of their training courses, is held by the General Manager. 18.02.03Training Records are updated on successful completion of the course. Updating is the responsibility of the General Manager. Copies of any certification may be included in the employees personnel file. 18.03 Training RecordsSCOPEThis procedure details the method used to record the training details of all personnel. 18.03.01Each individual staff member has a Staff Training Record Sheet in the "ISO Training File" held by the General Manager. 18.03.02Staff Training Records are updated with details of training, courses attended and certificates obtained, as necessary, by the General Manager. 18.03.03Each individual staff member has a Staff Assessment Record. This is updated with assessment details as necessary by the General Manager or a member of staff nominated by him. 18.03.04Access to Training Files is at the discretion of the General Manager. Employees have the right of access to their own individual file. 18.03.05All Personnel Files and Training Records are held for the duration of the employment of the person with AVO NZ, then archived for a minimum period of 5 years. 18.03.06Due to lack of previous individual training records, this procedure commences from the date of original issue. To compensate for the lack of previous records, a resume of each staff member is held in each individual file to demonstrate the level of experience and qualification gained.
