EGIL is a much-loved tester designed specifically for medium-voltage breakers having one main contact per phase and appeals greatly to the smaller contractor and those. Main contacts and parallel contacts having pre-insertion resistors are recorded and displayed simultaneously. Coil currents and two auxiliary contacts are also measured as standard. EGIL can be equipped with an analogue channel e.g. for motion measurement and a USB port for communication with the CABA computer program. EGIL with the SDRM option together with the SDRM accessory enables static and dynamic resistance measurements.

The EGIL is an automatic timer and motion analyzer for medium- and high-voltage substation circuit breakers. It is intended for use on circuit breakers with one contact per phase. EGIL incorporates features commonly found on more complex test systems, but is designed to be smaller, simpler to use and less expensive than other similar test sets. It’s price makes it attractive to smaller utilities and it is an ideal supplementary product for maintenance departments at larger power companies and for testing contractors.

EGIL200 is the first incarnation in a new range of circuit breaker analysers from Megger. It has been designed in close cooperation with global industry reference groups drawing experience from the market leading and hugely successful Megger TM series of circuit breaker analysers. The emphasis in the development of the EGIL200 has been on ease of use, ensuring that the time spent on setting up measurements is kept to a minimum. As such, with the EGIL200, you can get your test results done in no time. Connection to the test object has also been streamlined and with only one hook-up, all following operations or measurements can be made:

The little brother in the very popular TM-family employs much of the technology from the top of the line version TM1800 and is capable of timing main contacts. Offering excellent value for money, the TM1700 series comes in five models starting from PC-remote controlled to fully stand-alone. One important feature is the test wizard that quickly guides the operator through the test setup. All inputs and outputs on the instrument are designed to withstand the challenging environment in high voltage substations and industrial environments. Dual Ground™ testing makes the testing safe and time saving when the breaker is grounded on both sides.

The TM1700 series circuit breaker analyzers utilizes some of the ground breaking technology from the top of the line version TM1800. There are four models starting from PC-remote controlled to fully stand-alone. All models can be controlled from a computer using the well proven data management and analyzing software CABA Win.

The robust design offers powerful technology that assists the user to achieve efficient and reliable circuit breaker testing. Galvanically isolated inputs and outputs makes it possible to perform all relevant measurements in one test, eliminating the need for new setup and re-connections.

The patented DualGround method makes the testing safe and time saving by keeping the circuit breaker grounded on both sides throughout the test.

The timing measurement inputs are using a patented Active Interference Suppression algorithm to ensure correct timing and accurate PIR (Pre-Insertion Resistor) values even at high capacitively coupled interference currents. The adaptive and easy-to-use software allow the user to perform the test by simply turning the test switch without the need for settings. The operator is only one click away from advanced help functions such as connection diagrams. The 8" color touch screen, with on-screen keyboard, allows the user to efficiently operate this high-level interface.

DLRO100 enables low resistance measurement, across multiple applications, in areas without access to mains power. The integral Li-ion battery supplies a constant 100 A current for up to 200 automatic or manual tests enhancing productivity in remote locations.

With a focus on user safety, advanced design features ensure the safe operation of the instrument in the most adverse conditions, including a CAT IV 600 V safety rating in accordance with IEC61010. A DualGround feature is available on the DLRO100X and DLRO100H, which adds to the operators' safety by grounding both sides of the breaker under test.

The tough design, intuitive interface and IP54 (lid open) rating ensure reliability and ease-of-use in the most arduous of conditions.

A variable DC voltage is needed to test a circuit breaker. Substation batteries should not be used since this entails considerable risk for testing personnel, testing equipment and also for the equipment being tested. The best way to ascertain whether or not solenoids and protective mechanisms are sluggish or set improperly is to perform a test at minimum tripping voltage. The minimum trip voltage test is described in a number of international and national standards such as IEC 62271-100, ANSI C37.09 etc.

B10E d.c. voltage power supply can be used to test breaker coils in this manner. It provides a ripple-free variable DC voltage that can easily accommodate a high, variable load.

The MOM2 is designed to measure the resistance of circuit breaker contacts, bus-bar joints and other high-current links. This product is designed with safety, ease of use and versatility in mind.

MOM2 uses an ultra-capacitor to generate the high output current. The ultra-capacitor is able to store a huge amount of energy compared to conventional capacitors and can deliver very high current during the discharge thanks to its very low internal resistance. The microhmmeter can be used anywhere to measure a low resistance value with high accuracy.

With MOM2 it is possible to make measurements according to the DualGround™ method. This means that the test object will be grounded on both sides throughout the test giving a safer, faster and easier workflow.

Megger DLRO600 measures resistances between 0.1 µΩ and 999.9 mΩ, at high currents.

This versatile instrument can provide test currents from 10 amps up to 600 amps subject to the load resistance and supply voltage. A large liquid crystal display provides all the information needed to perform a test; all test parameters and measurement results are displayed.

The unique design allows the weight and size of DLRO600 to be kept to a minimum; the instrument weighs less than 5kg. This small size makes DLRO600 equally at home in the workshop, on the production floor or in the field. The high current capability and compact design make DLRO600 suitable for testing circuit breaker contacts, switch contacts, busbar joints or other applications where high current is needed.

Using the MS-2A for 3-phase testing: Circuit breakers may have three phases that are mechanically linked, so that if one of the phase trip elements trips, then all of the phases trip. However, each phase has its own individual trip element. So if we can get the breaker to trip using a three phase supply, then we don't know which phase tripped it, or even if all three trip mechanisms worked. That is why we need to do single phase trip testing so that we can verify that each phase mechanism trips, but it trips according to specified characteristics. However, what this also means is that if there is a ground fault trip feature, to the circuit breakers, then it must be disabled to check the other phase trip elements.

It is critically important that Power Network Technicians and engineers are competent and confident in the test equipment they’re using but also their ability to operate and understand the outputs from the instruments.
